Announcements for November, 20th 2020

We'd like to recognize these scholar-of-the-month recipients for their outstanding example of the virtue honesty.

History: 

    We are finishing our last 2 chapters in Ancient Egypt.  We will be covering the tomb of King Tut and the reign of Hatshepsut
 
Science:

    We are digging deeper in the patterns of the sun and daylight.  Next week we will cover how daylight and seasons are related.

Poetry: 

    We had our poetry recitation on Friday, November 20th! The scholars did an amazing job! Well done to them! We will be starting a new poem titled, There Once Was A Puffin, by Florence Page Jacques on Monday, November 30th and will recite that poem o January 14, 2021. Scholars will be expected to practice learning this poem at home.

Literature:

    I hope you have enjoyed the fables we have been reading.
    We will be exploring more about the book Owl at Home. Items for the craft needed:
  • (2) White paper plates
  • Blue Crayon
  • Yellow Crayon
  • Feathers
  • Googley eyes
  • Glue
  • Scissors
We will be doing Owl at Home until next semester (January).
    Our next book will be Sam the Minute ManWe will start this book in January.

Math:

    This week our scholars will be learning about repeated patterns by describing the pattern and then continuing a pattern according to one or two attributes such as:
shape, size and color. They will also learn to fit matching pieces together to form a basic shape. On Wednesday (12/2) they will take the Unit 7, Ch. 1 test, study for a Units 1-7 Cumulative Test and take the Cumulative Units 1-7 Test on Friday (12/4). 
    The next few chapters will be short: Length, Weight and Capacity. 
    Please practice your math facts when you are able!
 
Other Announcements:

    Continue bringing labeled water bottles to school to drink out of during the day. Also, continue to bring labeled sweaters and coats for the cool mornings.
 
    Thank you for all the scholars dressing up for Literary Day, we had a fun day reading, parading and telling who we were as Literary characters!
